📌 US mounts mobile missile launchers in Qatar as Iran tensions rise
Satellite-image analysis shows U.S. forces at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar placed Patriot missiles on mobile truck launchers as tensions with Iran escalated since January, enabling faster repositioning for defense or potential strikes. Imagery comparing Jan. 17 and Feb. 1 also indicates a build-up of aircraft and equipment. Similar changes were observed at other regional sites, including Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, as well as locations in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Diego Garcia.
📌 Justice Department un-redacts more names in Epstein files
After lawmakers reviewed unredacted records, the U.S. Justice Department released additional previously redacted names, including Les Wexner, Lesley Groff, and Jean-Luc Brunel. Lawmakers argue over-redactions concealed other individuals, while DOJ says many redactions protected victims’ privacy. DOJ also confirmed an email recipient was Emirati businessman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem. Questions remain over why others were not charged.
📌 Nine killed, 25 injured in shootings in Canada
Nine people were killed and 25 injured in shootings at a school and a home in Canada. A Grade 12 student described a lockdown at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, where students barricaded classrooms for over two hours until police escorted them out.
