📌 Sudan – Drone strike kills civilians in el-Obeid
Medics said at least 13 people, including eight children, were killed after a drone hit a house in el-Obeid. The Sudan Doctors’ Network blamed the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), describing it as an escalation in attacks on civilians as the war nears its third year.
📌 UK – Government urges X to address ‘appalling’ Grok deepfake abuse
UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall called on Elon Musk’s X to urgently tackle misuse of the Grok chatbot to generate non-consensual sexualised “undressed” images. Ofcom said it contacted xAI and is investigating, while X said it removes illegal content and will suspend violators.
📌 Iran – Anti-government protests spread nationwide, videos show
Verified footage indicated protests expanding to at least 17 of Iran’s 31 provinces since 28 December, triggered by economic pressures and a sharp currency devaluation, with reports of rising casualties and increasingly anti-state slogans.
