📌 China – Military drills around Taiwan
China launched large-scale live-fire military drills around Taiwan, involving ground forces, warships, fighter jets, and artillery. The exercises simulated strikes, a blockade of key ports, and the encirclement of the island. Taiwan responded by raising military readiness and showcasing U.S.-made weapons, amid growing regional tensions and warnings that such drills may signal preparations beyond routine training.
📌 Ukraine – Peace talks advance but Donbas remains unresolved
U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States and Ukraine are “very close” to reaching a peace agreement to end the war, while acknowledging that the future of the Donbas region remains the most difficult issue. Both sides reported progress on security guarantees for Ukraine, with expectations that European countries will play a larger role with U.S. backing.
📌 India – $30 billion gas dispute with Reliance and BP
India is seeking more than $30 billion in compensation from Reliance Industries and BP, accusing them of failing to produce agreed gas volumes from offshore deep water fields in the Krishna Godavari basin. The dispute has been under arbitration since 2016, with a ruling expected in mid-2026 and the possibility of legal challenges.
